News Story On this show taked about how love has the same effect on the brain as taking Cocaine and feeling mentally ill. In the first article, which appeared on the BBC website, the author divides love into three separate stages. Those stages include lust, attraction and attachment. During the attachment stage, our brains begin to produce Dopamine and Norepinephrine [also known as adrenaline]. Meanwhile, Serotonin levels may go both up and down, depending on the stage of the relationship. Now, dopamine is the same chemical that our brains release when we take Cocaine. And Serotonin is a chemical known to make people temporarily insane. So do you know any crazy insane people who act like they’re strung out on love? There might be a chemical answer as to why.
